Feb 2009 - T-Minus 2 Weeks

Happy Valentine's Day!

Well, we're down to 2 weeks away from the closing meeting aka we get our keys and move in. Needless to say, we're quite excited this Valentine's Day.

- The washer and dryer were brought upstairs last weekend, courtesy of our dads. Assembling those pedestals and putting the heavy washer and dryers on said pedestals were a day that I'll remember every time I look at them. (So will my back.)

- Energy Guide! Yay!

- And the dryer. Steph's holding the recent pain in the ass behind her...

- If you've ever looked behind your dryer, you'll know that the flex pipe that Steph is holding goes from the exhaust of the dryer to the exhaust pipes out of the house. Well, it's not exactly like putting a square peg in a round hole, but it's about as annoying. Thankfully, the builder (after I personally failed) said that he would assist with the installation of the dryer exhaust.

- Master bedroom closet, Steph's side.

- Master bedroom closet, my side.

- Carpet was laid in the crawlspaces beside our sides of the closet. This is where I will be hiding when I forget to finish the laundry.

- Master bathroom, Joey's vanity.

- Master bathroom, Steph's vanity and make-up area.

Note to self, invest in this:

- Joey's throne in the master bathroom.

- Master bathroom shower, all tiled and caulked up.

- Little dirt from Dad's furniture mover on the top of the steps. That'll be cleaned sometime during this 3-day weekend.

- Front porch view of the sidewalk walk around...

- ... and from the garage.

- I have a truck, and I have a house. I have a fiancee also, but she's somewhere in the house.

- There she is!

- The outside plug for the back-up generator.

-

- Our builder layed the concrete slab for the back patio.

- If memory serves me correctly, which they normally don't, I believe these are where the water drains are for the gutters. The gutters come off the house down into the side gutters; instead of spilling out onto the topsoil, they flow into plastic underground piping that go into what can be described as a tent. From there, the water in the 'tent' gets disbursed into the ground.

- Septic tank in the front yard. I just hope we never have this problem:

- The completed house next to my grandparent's home.

MOVIE TIME!!!!

- Video of the driveway coming up. It has the smaller blue stone down so that the driveway doesn't feel like a roller coaster anymore. Where my truck is parked is a small turnaround that is also blue stoned.

- Front yard pan of the yard (can't wait for Spring and the glass to grow...). My property line ends where the field begins. I'd imagine that we'll be popular if/when we get a lot of snow.

- Don't ask me why I took this, but I want to re reminded at some point that the meter on the outside of the house actually went this slow.

Well, that's it. We go to closing on the 27th of this month, then it's moving time! Will give a fresh blog update when we start to get things all moved in.

Feb 2009 - Stone and Squishy Stuff

We're getting so excited!!!

And so broke!
SmiliesFTW.com

The Shiny Stuff!

- Granite island top.

- More of the kitchen with shiny rock on top.

- Oopsie. The sink isn't going to fit there.

- Matter of fact, the sink is UNDERNEATH its' mounting place for now. :)

- Dishwasher. I'm getting tired of doing dishes in a one-bowl sink that's 2 square feet in diameter.

- Our new foyer light, safely away from any swinging doors.

- Stephanie's vanity; the middle area is the makeup table where she'll get pretty and stuff.

- Closeup of Stephanie's sink area.

- Joey's vanity area; complete with installer. SmiliesFTW.com

- Spare bathroom granite counter top and cabinet.

The Squishy Stuff!

Ooooh, the carpet is sooo soft!

- Carpet being layed in the master bedroom.

- Carpet laid on the steps.

- Threshold separating the master bathroom and the master bedroom.

- Plastic is layed down, since outside is still really muddy.

The Other Stuff!

- Our security light is up, can't wait to start feeling secure.

- Side lights on the garage.

- I can't get enough of this wall mount area for the bathroom... power and cable and a 19-inch LCD will be great.

- Laminate layed down in the washer/dryer room.

- Attic entry all trimmed up and looking good in the spare bedroom.

- The master bedroom light panel. The left switch is the light on/off with dimmer (sweet!) and the middle switch is the fan on/off with dimmer (it slows and speeds up the fan rotation, double sweet!)

- Threshold between the kitchen and the dining room.

- Caulking's all done on the shower. The master bedroom and the spare bathroom seem to be finished.

Well, still coming down to the wire... I heard the words 'punch list' during conversations with the builder, so expect a minor update soon.
