While I'm working on my own house, I think it's necessary to talk a little bit about another one that was left to me. My grandparents home fell within my property line, so it was a blessing as well as a curse as far as building the new house goes.
A little background on the house:
- Actual date of it being built is unknown, ~1940's
- The original oak framework was taken from the farm area.
- The metal roof is over 50 years old.
Unfortunately, the house had been abandoned for close to 20 years, so you imagine that the place was a little dirty. Boxes and boxes full of mason jars, cabinets full of food that was expired, and finding checks that my grandmother used to control her bus contracting business... from the early 1980's.
I'll post the pictures of the post-cleanup that was required by the county (another blog post in the future). Here's an easy way to explain the amount of sheer stuff in the house:
